Season 5

Kaylee DeFer plays a character named Ivy who is being paid by Lily's sister, Carol, to impersonate her daughter, Serena’s cousin Charlie Rhodes.  The season began in Los Angeles when a re-energized Chuck and Nate decided to pay Serena a visit. Chuck had a new found philosophy and says "yes" to everything, even death defying stunts. Serena continues to work on the movie set, and is offered a full-time job at the end of the episode. Nate begins an affair with an older woman. Who may have a hidden reason for being with Nate?  Back in New York, Dan learns that Vanessa has published one chapter of his novel, and Blair continues to plan her wedding to Louis, and she also learns she is pregnant.
Later in the season Blair finds out the baby might not be Louis, but sadly she loses the baby. A few days before the wedding Chuck and Blair were in a car accident and that made Blair realize how much she actually loved Chuck, but she knew she couldn’t be with him due to her engagement with Louis. Blair started going to church with Dan and made a promise to God that she would not see Chuck as long as Chuck would not get hurt. Rumors went around that Blair and Dan were more than friends but later were proven wrong.
The Run away Bride
Before Blair’s wedding she admitted the feelings she had for Chuck but explained she could not be with him due to her promise to God, Georgia got it all on video and someone showed it on the big screen during the wedding. Blair explained to Louis that it was not true and he ‘forgave’ her and they then got married. During the reception of the wedding Louis admitted to Blair he does not forgive her and that they are only a happy couple in public and behind closed doors they are nothing and that it will carry on till he says it’s enough. Blair left the wedding early and went to the airport with Dan, she wanted to get a divorce with Louis, due to not having her passport she could not leave the county. So she returned to Louis for the reason that if she didn’t her family would have to pay a massive amount of money which they do not have, Chuck offered to pay the money but Blair rejected and said it was her responsibility to marry Louis.
Valentine’s Day didn’t go to good…
Serena spent her Valentine’s Day waiting for Dan, who Blair set her up with.
Nate threw a party to try get the cater waiter to come, which he has a crush on.
Ivy and Charlie met each other at the party and started talking…
Blair spends her Valentines without Louis, and finds out Louis had organized a social event manager for her. Blair goes to Nate’s party and ends up kissing Dan, Georgia gets a picture of the kiss and Serena walked in on them as they kissed.
Georgia showed Chuck the picture, which made Chuck give up on Blair so he spent his night with a girl he met at the bar and Georgia admitted to Dan that she is Gossip Girl.
Charlie  and Ivy
Serena’s grandma goes to hospital and soon dies of a stroke. The secrete of Ivy being Charlie is relisted, when the real Charlie comes to the hospital to be with her Grandma and she sees Ivy with her mother. Charlie’s mother used Ivy to get money out of Charlie’s trust fund and Charlie stays by Nate for the night and  Blair admits to Dan that she has feelings for him.

Season 4

Season four's main mystery revolves around Juliet Sharp, a mysterious girl with an agenda against Serena linking to her past. The second half of the season builds on the difficulties of Serena's new found relationship with her former teacher Ben, Chuck trying to regain control of Bass Industries from Russell Thorpe, and Dan and Blair's growing connection. The season also shows Lily's past unfaithfulness coming back to haunt her; Chuck and Blair's wild relationship after their split; Dan and Vanessa's fading friendship; and the arrival of Serena's cousin Charlie Rhodes to the Upper East Side. The first two episodes of the season took place with Serena, Blair, and Chuck in Paris. While in Paris, Blair meets Prince Louis Grimaldi, to whom she later becomes engaged at the end of the season.

Season 3


The third season focuses on Blair, Dan and Vanessa getting into NYU along with movie star Olivia Burke (Hilary Duff), whom Dan starts dating; Nate getting into Columbia University; Serena taking a year off from school; Jenny becoming Queen Bee at Constance; and Chuck running Bass Industries, along with now adoptive mother Lily van der Woodsen. The first couple of episodes feature part of the summer vacation, respectively the week before the start of University and School. The role of "Gossip Girl" is slightly decreased throughout the season.
Robert John Burke, who played Bart Bass, returned for A Christmas Carol themed episode in December, while Desmond Harrington returned as Chuck's uncle Jack with a major storyline disturbing Chuck and Blair's relationship again and involving Chuck's alienated mother Evelyn Bass Fisher.
The season focused hugely on Jenny Humphrey's growth and downhill spiral. She spends a good part of the season alienating herself from Eric, her former best friend, and chasing after Nate, who has his heart set on Serena. Due to her one night stand with Chuck Bass, and new drug dealing habit, Jenny's father and Lily send her to New York to live with her mother. Blair and Chuck's attempt to have a successful relationship which goes downhill; Dan and Vanessa move from friends to something more; and Serena's attempts to find herself through a new job and brief love affairs with Carter.

Season 2


The second season mainly focuses on the senior year and the relationship between Blair and Chuck.

The first half of the season shows Serena's growing fame as a trend-setter which draws the attention of Blair as their friendship is tested when Poppy Lifton arrives. Nate faces the aftermath of his father's criminal past and pursues a relationship with Vanessa, who becomes tangled into the world of the Upper East Side. Jenny reignites her rebellious nature by pursuing her career as a fashion designer, thus challenging Rufus' skills as a parent.  Dan's friendship with Nate and his relationship with Serena slowly converts him from a social outcast to an insider. The show finished its first half during the first week of December, with the shocking death of Bart Bass.
The second half of the season reveals the impact of Bart's death, causing a major change for Chuck that consequently leads to the growth of Rufus and Lily's relationship, the exposure of the two having a son together contributed to the weakening of Dan and Serena's relationship.
As the storylines proceeded, the role of "Gossip Girl" is slightly reduced. She continues to run her blog, but she keeps the critical information for herself, sending it in the final episode as the last blast, where Serena decides to find out who "Gossip Girl" really is, but in the end fails. The season finale ended with a well-received kiss between Blair and Chuck…

Season 1



The first season's main focus is Serena's sudden return to the Upper East Side following her mysterious disappearance.
Serena's one night-stand with Nate Archibald was thought to be the reason she left. Near the end of the season, Georgina Sparks, Serena's friend, arrives on the Upper East Side, revealing that the night Serena slept with Nate didn't end there... The season also revolves around Serena's relationship with Lonely boy, Blair's relationship with Nate and her affair with his best friend Chuck, brief romance between Serena's mother and Dan's father, Blair and Jenny's mentor-protege relationship; and the arrival of Dan's former best friend Vanessa Abrams. The season ends with the Truth of Serena's secret, causing the break up of Dan and Serena, and Chuck leaving Blair at the airport while she finds a new fun summer fling, before leaving for Europe.

The Characters of Gossip Girl


The series is based on the popular book series written by Cecily von Ziegesar.
